Biepharoplasty
What is an Blepharoplasty?
BLEPHAROPLASTY
Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, is an eye cosmetic surgery procedure.
It is intended for men and women with drooping and withering lower and/or upper eyelids, which may come with horizontal lines and excess fat. These inconveniences can appear with age or occur early for genetic reasons. With this surgical procedure, signs of aging are reduced, and tired appearance is minimized.
Different reasons to schedule a blepharoplasty :
For upper eyelids :
o Excess skin of varying intensity, which can even interfere with lateral vision
o Excess fat mainly on the inner part of the eyelid
o Wrinkles on the outer corners of the eyelids
For lower eyelids :
o Excess skin
o Fat pads
o Dark circles
After the consultation of your eyelids by the surgeon, the drawings that will delimit the area of skin to be removed will be done on your eyelids. The duration of the surgical procedure for the upper and lower eyelids ranges from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the protocol established by your surgeon.
A thin incision will be made under the eyelids’ crease, which will be stitched with non-resorbable sutures blocked by small strips (steri-strip) that will be kept for an indicated period of time. Any scar will be invisible to the naked eye and will gradually fade after 3 months.
The post-operative effects of blepharoplasty are light.
A few recommendations should be observed for a few days as soon as you leave the clinic:
- Use cold water compresses to soothe the eyes
- Application of ointments and ophthalmic eye drops
