What is an Bichectomy?
Bichectomy or buccal fat pads (Bichat’s fat pads) removal in Istanbul
Bichectomy is a procedure which consists in permanently removing the small fat pads located in the cheek. The removal of Bichat’s fat pads allows to refine and redefine the lower part of the face, to hollow out the cheeks and make the cheekbones more prominent.
It is a quick and non-invasive cosmetic surgical procedure performed by a maxillofacial surgeon applying a local anesthetic.
After a consultation with your surgeon, the indication for the surgery will be confirmed.
The surgeon will determine whether or not the surgical indication is favorable, and if there will be any benefit resulting from the operation. The procedure is an outpatient surgery, performed at the clinic under local anesthesia or light sedation. You will be discharged the same day as the operation. The procedure lasts an average of 30 to 45 minutes. A scar is placed on each side inside the mouth just below the salivary duct. This scar will be invisible as it is located inside the mouth. A suture is made with resorbable threads.
